Corrections and data accuracy

This is the one we most want to hear about. If a price, tax rate, refinery detail or statistic on this site looks wrong, tell us which page and which figure, and we will check it against the source and correct it. Our methodology page sets out where every number comes from, so you can see what we are checking against.

Corrections to the written regional analysis are reflected in the “last reviewed” date shown on each region page.

Coverage requests

We can only publish a region page where the EIA maintains a weekly retail price series for that area — we do not interpolate or estimate prices for states the survey does not cover. If you want a region added and a series exists for it, let us know and we will look at it.

Press and licensing

Journalists and researchers are welcome to cite the analysis here with a link. The underlying EIA data is public domain; our calculations, written analysis and charts are ours, and we are happy to discuss reuse. Email us for a comment or for the numbers behind any figure on the site.

• We cannot tell you the price at a specific gas station. Our data is regional weekly averages from a government survey.
